- 5th child of Robert & Elsie Stewart.
- His brothers and sisters are Mary, Peggy, Don & Bob.
- He has 5 children: Kimberly Stewart (b. 21 August 1979); Sean Stewart (b. 1 September 1980) born to Alana Stewart (ex-wife of actor George Hamilton; Ruby Stewart (b. 17 June 1987), born to Kelly Emberg, his girlfriend at the time; Renee Stewart (b. 1 June 1992), and Liam McAlister (b. 4 September 1994), born to current wife Rachel Hunter, a model.
- Was a former professional soccer player before becoming a musician. Rod was successfully sued by Brazilian singer Jorge Ben who claimed the tune to Rod's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" was too similar to his song "Taj Mahal". Ben won the lawsuit and asked Rod to donate all his profits from the song to UNICEF.
