• Won the role of Kane in the original Alien (1979) sci-fi movie classic and had already started filming when he developed severe bronchitis and was forced to bow out. He was replaced by John Hurt.
• Was originally cast to play the part of Cain in "Alien", but had to drop out on the first day of filming because of a severe attack of diabetes
