Biography
Though Jeff Conaway achieved TV fame by playing an actor who couldn't find work, he had in fact been a busy professional since childhood. At age ten, Conaway made his first Broadway appearance in All the Way Home. Eleven years later, after completing his education at N.Y.U., Conaway was seen in his first film, Jennifer on My Mind (1971). He played Kenicke in the New York staging of Grease, then repeated the role for the 1978 film adaptation. Also in 1978, he began a three-year run on the TV sitcom Taxi, in the role of Bobby Wheeler, an incredibly luckless aspiring actor who made ends meet by driving a hack. Conaway has since delved into the realm of "fantastic television," appearing as Prince Erick Greystone in Wizards and Warriors (1983) and (occasionally) as Zack Allen on Babylon 5 (1992). Active in the direct-to-video market, Jeff Conaway both directed and acted in Bikini Summer 2 (1992).

- His ex-wife, Rona Newton-John, is Olivia Newton-John's sister.
- Is a grandfather (grandson born January 1997). (Admitted this on NBC's "Later with Greg Kinnear" (1994), July 6/98, with guest host Rita Sever).

- In an episode of "Taxi" (1978), the song 'Summer Nights' from the movie Grease (1978) is playing on a jukebox, but instead of John Travolta singing the lead, it's Jeff Conaway (the song was obviously re-worked for that episode, and Conaway was a co-star in Grease (1978) but was second banana to Travolta).
- Though he played Kenickie in the movie version of Grease (1978), he appeared in the Broadway production as Danny Zuko.
- Appeared in an episode of "Murder, She Wrote" (1984) ("Birds of a Feather") as an Off-Broadway actor from New York who had been "mostly a cab driver" - a reference to his role in the TV series, "Taxi" (1978).
- Saw an episode of Babylon 5 on TV and liked it so much he went down to the production studio to see the show being filmed. He was spotted and used for a bit part, which grew into a recurring character, and eventually a full-time role in the series.
- Is an acting teacher and coach, with his students including James Evans and Joey Sylvester.
