| Biography
The son of a preacher, musician Vincent Furnier spent most of his formative years in Phoenix, AZ. It was here that Furrier formed his first rock band, the Earwigs, in 1965. He later changed the group's name to the Spiders and later the Nazz, enjoying only moderate success each time. Then, in 1968, or so the story goes, Furrier was playing with a ouija board when he suddenly "channelled" the spirit of a 16th century woman by the name of "Alice Cooper." Adopting thick, androgynous facial makeup, Furnier and a handful of like-minded musicians — guitarists Mike Bruce and Glenn Buxton, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith — metamorphosed into the hard rock band Alice Cooper, with Furnier himself adopting the on-stage persona of "Alice." The granddaddies of shock rock, Alice Cooper put on the most outrageous show in the business, replete with live boa constrictors, guillotines, mutilated dummies, and gallons of stage blood. Given that the 1970s was the Decade of Pointless Excess, it was only natural that Alice himself would be courted by the glitterati and cognoscenti (though it helped that he made some great records along the way).Cooper made his film debut in Diary of a Mad Housewife in 1970. He went on to appear as "himself" in Roadie (1980) and The Decline of Western Civilization Pt. Two: The Metal Years (1988), and to portray a "street schizo" in Prince of Darkness (1988). Outside of his own hour-long music video Welcome to My Nightmare, Alice Cooper's most memorable screen appearance was in the 1992 comedy Wayne's World; after accepting the genuflections of party dudes Wayne and Garth ("We're not worthy! We're not worthy!"), Cooper then launches into a solemn, thoroughly knowledgeable discourse on the history of socialism in Milwaukee.

- Has had songs on soundtracks for the movies Flash Fearless Meets the Zorg Women (Songs: "I'm Flash" and "Space Pirates"); Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) (Songs: "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)", "Teenage Frankenstein" and others); Wayne's World (1992) (Song: "Feed My Frankenstein"); Dazed and Confused (1993) (Song: "School's Out"); Shocker (1989) (Song: "Shockdance"); and The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years (1988) ("Under My Wheels" With W. The Alice version of "The Man with the Golden Gun" appears on the band's 1974 album, "Muscle of Love".

- When the giant letters of the famous "HOLLYWOOD" sign had to be replaced with new letters in 1978, a fund-raising party was held, with the old letters being auctioned off at around ,000 each. Hugh M. Hefner hosted the event and bought the "H", while Warner Brothers bought the "W". Alice bought an "O" in memory of the late Groucho Marx, with whom he had been very good friends. The check was painted on a big piece of the old sign and endorsed by Alice.
- While Cooper was playing a stadium show in the 1970s, a fan threw a live chicken on stage. Cooper, who's from Detroit and unfamiliar with farm animals, generally assumed that since the chicken had wings, it would be able to fly. So he grabbed the chicken and tossed into the air, thinking it would fly out of the stadium, when in fact it went straight down into the crowd, who ripped the bird to pieces. The parts were thrown back on stage, and the headlines later claimed that Cooper bit the head off the chicken, and drank its blood. Frank Zappa later advised Cooper not to tell the real story, simply because "everybody loves it!".
- Doesn't seem to mind mocking his own "scary" image in the media; young people who appear with Alice act unafraid of him, while he pretends fright at ordinary things.
- Cooper's daughter, Calico Cooper, has been touring with him as one of the dancers/actors in the show.

- Went out on a limb to get his first record deal (almost to the point of getting himself and his band tossed in jail)...After discovering where Frank Zappa lived, Cooper and his band set up their instruments and audio equipment right in Zappa's yard and began to perform. Sure enough, Zappa soon came out of the house in a rage; Cooper told him that he and his band would continue playing until Zappa did one of two things: either give them a record deal or call the police. Luckily, Zappa saw fit to do the former.
- Once came out with wrestler Jake "The Snake" Roberts (Jake Roberts) to a wrestling match, carrying a huge snake.
